Curry bread bowls happen when you try to make naan bread look like Mt. Fuji. The dough needs to rise by itself for a while, but other than that, they're easy to make and satisfying to munch on. You may want to try chopped garlic, coriander, or another spice during step 2.

How to Make Mt. Fuji Curry Ja-pan

— Ingredients —

flour
1.6 cups flour
sugar
1 tsp sugar
fresh yeast
1 tsp fresh yeast
water
0.6 cups water
(warm)
butter
1 tbsp butter
(melted)
salt
1 tsp salt

— Instructions —

  1. Combine sugar, warm water, and yeast. Let yeast proof (about 10 minutes).
  2. Add in flour, butter, and salt. Mix well, and add any additional spices.
  3. Knead dough until smooth and elastic (about 5 minutes).
  4. Let rise (about 2 hours).
  5. Preheat oven to 500 degrees F (260 degrees C).
  6. Flatten dough into discs 1/4 inch thick, and drape over upside-down muffin pan that has been covered in shaped aluminum foil.
  7. Knead dough until smooth and elastic (about 5 minutes).
  8. Bake until browned (about 15 minutes). If desired, use a spoon to pat top with additional butter.
  9. Once ready, allow to cool slightly. Then peel naan from foil, using an oven mitt if necessary.
  10. Once cool enough to hold, fill each bowl with curry and enjoy.
