How to Make Apple Pie Filling

— Ingredients —

butter
2 tbsp 28.35 g butter
(unsalted)
sugar
2 tbsp + 1 tsp 29 grams sugar
apples
4-6 4-6 apples
citrus juice
2 tsp 10 ml citrus juice
cinnamon
3 tsp 7.92 g cinnamon
nutmeg
1 tsp 2.37 g nutmeg
water
1 tsp 5 ml water
(cold)

— Instructions —

  1. Wash, core, peel, and slice the apples.
  2. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add brown sugar and 2 tablespoons granulated sugar.
  4. Stir, cooking for two minutes or until all of the sugar has dissolved.
  5. Stir in apple pieces, juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  6. Reduce heat and cover. Cook for 20 minutes or until apples are tender, stirring occasionally.
  7. Remove from heat. Allow to cool to room temperature.
