How to Make Bilbo's Seed-Cake

— Ingredients —

butter
3/4 cup butter
granulated sugar
1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
milk
2 tbsp milk
vanilla
1 tbsp vanilla
eggs
2 eggs
flour
1.5 cups flour
salt
1 tsp salt
caraway
1 tbsp caraway

— Instructions —

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (177 degrees C).
  2. Cream butter and sugar.
  3. Add milk, vanilla, and eggs. Mix well.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine flour and salt.
  5. Combine dry and wet ingredients.
  6. Mix in caraway.
  7. Pour into prepared baking dish. (To stay true to the book, use a round pan.)
  8. Bake a knife inserted in the center comes out clean (about 50 minutes).
