Best Ice Cream in the Multiverse (Ice Cream with Flies)

There are pros and cons to every alternate timeline. I'm glad we live in this one, where the flies in our ice cream are made of chocolate-covered almonds. Rather than, you know, actual flies.

If you're allergic to almonds, you can cut a marshmallow in half to make the wings. Press each half on top of a chocolate-covered raisin, coffee bean, or any similar treat.

How to Make The Best Ice Cream in the Multiverse

— Ingredients —

water
water
almonds
almonds
(2 per fly)
chocolate chips
1 cup chocolate chips
(plus more as desired)
coconut oil
3 tablespoons coconut oil
(optional)
sprinkles
sprinkles
(optional)
spumoni ice cream
spumoni ice cream
waffle cones
waffle cones

— Instructions —

  1. Divide almonds in two bowls equally.
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Combine oil and chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl.
  4. Microwave for 45 seconds at high power. Stir contents until smooth. (Chocolate can burn easily, so you might want to alternate microwaving for smaller intervals and stirring.)
  5. Take the almonds from the first bowl and coat each one in the chocolate sauce. Lay each dipped almond on the parchment paper, and allow to set in the fridge.
  6. Meanwhile, make fly wings:
    • Heat water (enough to cover the almonds from the second bowl) until boiling.
    • Add almonds from the second bowl to boiling water.
    • Let scald for about 1-2 minutes.
    • Drain almonds using a colander.
    • Quickly rinse the almonds under cold water, and drain again.
    • Slip the brown skins off the almonds.
    • Slice each peeled almond in half lengthwise. Each half will be a fly wing.
  7. Take the dipped almonds out of the fridge (they should be almost set). Press two fly wings on top of each dipped almond.
  8. If desired, you can press a single chocolate chip on top of the dipped almond to give it a 'head', and add eyes made of sprinkles (optional).
  9. To serve, place three scoops of spumoni ice cream in a waffle cone, and top with chocolate flies.
